Storyhouse is a charity, an independent arts centre and creative hub based in the heart of Chester. It incorporates a library, two theatres, an independent cinema, and a restaurant to create a community and creative social space.
Chief Executive, Annabel Turpin, shares her thoughts on how devolution could benefit Cheshire and Warrington.
“Devolution means that big, strategic decisions can be made here in Cheshire and Warrington. It’s not about adding another layer of bureaucracy, it’s about drawing down decision-making powers and investment that currently sits with central government in London to people that are governing here in Cheshire and Warrington.”
"It’s an opportunity for businesses to influence those decisions to make sure that investment is going on the things that make a difference to our customers and our workforce. It’s about ensuring strategies on transport, skills and growth genuinely help us to survive, thrive and expand as businesses.”
“A Mayor gives Cheshire and Warrington a clear and visible leader – someone who can champion our strengths, tell our story with confidence, and attract investment. It’s about having a single voice that can bring businesses, communities, and culture together, build pride in the place, and make sure we can compete on the national and international stage.”
