Having worked across Cheshire during her career, which involved senior leadership positions in local newspapers, and then with the National Trust. Eleanor Underhill is now a member of the Board of Marketing Cheshire, which promotes Cheshire’s thriving visitor economy.
Eleanor shares her thoughts on how devolution could benefit Cheshire and Warrington.
“From my perspective, devolution means bringing decision making, power and funding nearer to home, so that it's local people – not those in London – making decisions about our future."
“Specifically for Marketing Cheshire, devolution means that we'll be better able to better promote the Cheshire brand. The visitor economy in Cheshire is already worth £3.9billion, and with the right support and investment, is ripe for growth."
“Devolution brings with it an elected Mayor who will lead for our whole area – and who can be a flag waver for us, promoting the Cheshire brand on the national stage. This means that Cheshire and Warrington will get the recognition it deserves, alongside Manchester, Liverpool and other great places.”
