The C&W Shadow CA Board have agreed a new plan to help everyone in Cheshire and Warrington get into good jobs, learn new skills, and build a brighter future—no matter your background or where you live.
It’s called the Get Cheshire and Warrington Working Plan (GCWWP), and it’s all about making work pay and opening up opportunities for everyone.
So, What’s This All About?
- We’ve listened to local people and experts to find out what really matters.
- The plan is packed with ideas to help young people who aren’t in work or training, support those with health challenges, and make it easier for parents and carers to get back into jobs.
- We’re also focusing on connecting people to the right opportunities—because sometimes, it’s not about the lack of jobs, but about making sure everyone knows what’s out there.
Real Challenges, Real Solutions
- There are some areas in Cheshire and Warrington where it’s harder to find work or access services. We’re shining a light on these places and making sure no one gets left behind.
- More young people have been struggling to find their next step after school. We’re here to help them get back on track.
- Health issues, especially mental health, are stopping some people from working. We want to break down those barriers and offer the right support.
- Early retirement and caring for family can make it tough to stay in work. We’re looking at ways to help people return when they’re ready.
Why Should You Care?
- This plan is about making life better for everyone—more chances to find work that pays, healthier communities, and less poverty.
- We’re making sure people with real, lived experience help shape what happens next. Your voice matters!
- Employers are getting involved too, so there’ll be more training and better jobs for everyone.
What’s Next?
- Over the next 12–18 months, we’ll be working together to make support easier to find, map out what’s already working, and fill any gaps.
- We’ve already got £150,000 to kick things off—funding events, support, and activities for those who need it most. This isn’t just talk; things are happening now.
- There’s a big focus on making sure the plan works for everyone, including people in rural areas and those who might have missed out before.
How Can You Get Involved?
- Keep an eye out for events and opportunities to share your ideas.
