Marmot Report

Date
December 18, 2025

We’re working to make our area a healthier, fairer place for everyone. Here’s what’s happening:

What’s the Plan?

  • The Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority Shadow Board has agreed to make addressing health and related issues a priority across all of its work.
  • We’ll look at things like jobs, housing, schools, transport, and health to make sure everyone gets a fair chance.

Why Is This Important?

  • Some people in our area live much shorter lives than others. There’s a big gap in health and life expectancy between rich and poor.
  • Many children grow up in poverty, and lots of families who struggle are working hard but still need support.

What Will We Do?

We’ll follow the ‘Marmot Principles’ which seek to tackle the causes and impacts of health inequality:

  • Give every child the best start in life
  • Help people learn and grow
  • Support good jobs for everyone
  • Make sure everyone has a safe home
  • Build healthy, green communities
  • Prevent illness, not just treat it
  • Stand up against discrimination
  • Protect our environment while helping people stay healthy

What’s Next?

  • Work is starting now to put these priorities at the heart of all future plans and activities.
  • A team will come together to help make sure things happen.
  • No extra cost right now—any future spending will be planned and could save money in the long run.
