Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Devolution, Faith and Communities has written to local leaders confirming the establishment of the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority.

In the letter, Ms Fanhbulleh says:

" I am delighted that we have delivered devolution for Cheshire and Warrington, which will give local leaders the tools, funding and freedom they need to deliver on key local priorities, create new jobs, improve transport and enhance the local skills offer for their communities.

Once again, I would like to thank you and your officers for your hard work and support in enabling us to deliver this for the people of Cheshire and Warrington. I look forward to continuing to work with you as you move forward on your devolution journey."

The order confirms that certain functions will now pass to the new Combined Authority, enabling the organisation to start delivering on its priorities; ahead of mayoral elections in May 2027.
