Established in 1876, The Warrington Chamber of Commerce and Industry supports and represents business in Warrington and Vale Royal. It is a local, independent, non-profit making and non-party-political organisation, serving local businesses for over 130 years.
Chief Executive, Stephen Fitzsimons, shares his thoughts on how devolution could benefit Cheshire and Warrington.
“Devolution is essential for Cheshire and Warrington because without it, the area will continue to miss out on government support. In June 2025, the Chancellor announced £15billion of transport investments, all destined for areas with an elected Mayor in place, so Cheshire and Warrington was not on the list.”
“Over 95% of the UK business community is made up of SMEs, however, there is very little support available to help them grow. Devolution will enable Cheshire and Warrington to dedicate greater resource to helping local companies, building on the Growth Hub model, with a variety of value adding services.”
“An elected Mayor would provide Cheshire and Warrington with a powerful voice to champion local issues and fight for greater investment, both nationally and internationally.”
